Visuals are an integral part of the World Café process. Harvesting the ideas emerging from the wold café in a graphic format brings them to life and helps the participants see the results of their collective thinking grow and take shape as the event unfolds. Graphics were drawn "live" by visual artist Manuel Chopard. Photographs of the
participants absorbed in the conversations are a testimony of the
intensity and authenticity that this kind of event elicits. Beautiful
shots of this World Café were taken by art photographer Frederik
Beeftink.
The participants
themselves also created visuals by doodling and noting their ideas on
the paper table cloths and on post-it notes which were then assembled
on flipchart sheets along the walls of the venue, to be seen by
everyone.
Facilitators Pascale and
Saba contributed to the creation of visuals by noting the main ideas of
the collective town meeting discussions on flipcharts. These clouds of
key words faithfully portray the richness of this group encounter.
All these visuals put together
are a precious support that allow us transmit what took place in the
world café, to share the contents with others and to describe, as far
as possible, the magic that happened in the middle, the innovative
ideas and the common intentions that emerged when the "system connected
with itself".
